ACE’S PRIORITIES

EDUCATION

Ace understands great schools are the foundation of our community. They attract new people and businesses and bring families of all backgrounds together. Our public schools need support from our legislators, not disdain and micromanagement. We must keep public money in public schools and fully fund special education to ensure that school districts are able to provide great educational opportunities and experiences for all students.

HEALTH CARE

As a physician, assuring a healthy Kansas is a top priority for Ace. The current right-wing supermajority in the Legislature has refused billions of dollars in federal funding for Medicaid expansion. This has left 150,000 Kansans without insurance coverage, with unreimbursed emergency healthcare as their only treatment option. It has also contributed to the bankruptcy of rural hospitals and clinics, forcing Kansans to travel long distances for medical services. It has ruined lives and weakened the healthcare system throughout the state, and in our district.

Ace firmly believes that private medical decisions belong in the hands of patients and their doctors. The Legislature should not intrude on medical practice, nor make decisions that are not theirs to make.

LONG-TERM ECONOMIC GROWTH

Ace will promote Johnson County’s outstanding business climate with policies that help companies attract and retain top talent, while committing to our environment and sustainability. Our reputation as a welcoming place to start and grow a business depends on superb public schools, safe and affordable neighborhoods, and excellent infrastructure and civic services. Kansas must ensure that the state is moving forward, a beacon that attracts young people to stay, work, and raise families in Kansas.
